A COMMUNITY CENTER FOR CABARETE
We are very excited about our new project in collaboration with the Dominican NPO Cabarete Sostenible. Together we will build a community center on the property of La Finca Cabarete Sostenible.
Hunger is a widespread and severe problem in the Dominican Republic. Consequently, the center's purpose fits Cabarete Sostenible's central objective of creating regional food security. For this to happen, our food systems must be transformed to serve people and sustainably protect natural resources and, thus, the ecosystem. Therefore, the center will provide space for multi-faceted educational courses and community and regenerative agriculture workshops. The program will focus on activities that sustainably promote food security, food sovereignty, environmental awareness, and local businesses.
The community center for Cabarete Sostenible will act as an educational training center to learn about permaculture and the importance of sustainable and regenerative aspects of projects as a whole.
The training center´s ecological design includes a water collection system
and a dry toilet.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE COMMUNITY CENTRE
SUPPORT OUR CAMPAIGN
The creation of the Bohio will be used to provide workshops and activities for the community. It will be located within the 30 acres of land donated to Cabarete Sostenible.
Because the Finca Comunitaria is located within the El Choco National Park and is a protected area by the Ministry of the Environment, in addition to CS's vision of caring for the land and the environment, a dry toilet was chosen as the best option to avoid generating wastewater and to continue the work being done to preserve and regenerate the soil.
RAIN WATER COLLECTION
Continuing with the ecological logic of preservation and use of energy in the territory, we want to add to the bohío a basic method of water collection.
